Identity and mission

Before buying a refurbished device, you have the right to know exactly what you are buying

Which parts are original? Who tested the device, when, where and with which tool? What did they find? RefurbPassport gathers those answers on a passport specific to each device, which any buyer can check for free.

Who we are

A registry, not a shop

RefurbPassport does not sell devices. It is a registry: refurbishing professionals record what they did and found on each device, and buyers check it before paying. Each device gets a passport, a QR code and a PDF certificate that follow it from seller to seller.

Our mission

Answer the question every buyer asks: “What exactly am I buying?”

A “Very good condition” grade or “50-point tested” does not say which parts were changed or what was seen. We want every piece of information to be precise, dated and signed by whoever produced it, so trust is checked rather than promised.

What a passport contains

Everything a buyer should know, in one place

  • The origin of every part

Screen, battery, cameras, Face ID…: original, replaced with a manufacturer part or with a compatible part, and how we know (system reading, serial number, visual check).

  • Every test, with its author

Who tested, when, in which workshop, with which tool, and the result of each test, measured by the tool or checked by the technician.

  • The findings, even the bad ones

Scratches, a compatible part, a test to watch: what the technician saw is written as is, not summarized into a flattering grade.

  • Photos of this device

Photos of the actual device taken during inspection, not catalogue pictures.

  • Its full history

Validated repairs, verified documents, alerts (theft, locks) and changes of hands, in the order they happened.

  • A verifiable certificate

The QR code and the link in the PDF lead to the online passport: if in doubt, compare the document with the online, always up-to-date version.

Our commitments

The rules that make a passport trustworthy

  1. 01

Every piece of data has an author

Information always shows the organization that recorded it, the date and the method. Nothing is anonymous.

  2. 02

    Only validated professionals write

Every organization is reviewed before it can record data. API access is granted manually and can be suspended at any time.

  3. 03

We also show what is wrong

A failed test or a non-original part stays visible. A passport is not an advert.

  4. 04

    The identifier stays private

IMEI and serial number are encrypted; only the last 4 characters are shown publicly.

  5. 05

    Free for buyers

Checking a passport requires no account and no payment. Professionals fund the service.

For whom

A shared tool for the whole refurbished market

Buyers
Check a device before paying, with its IMEI, serial number or the QR code provided by the seller.
Refurbishers
Send your test bench results, part origin and photos through the API, and hand a certificate to every customer.
Marketplaces
Show the passport on your listings and require the same transparency from all your sellers.
Repairers
Record your repairs and the parts you fitted: they stay in the device's history.
Insurers and warranties
Base your decisions on a dated, signed history rather than on a declaration.
